My Travels
on ride165's travel map.
I spent 3 nights in Montreal partly as a break from the daily bus rides and partly to see more of the City.
Luckily I have been traveling with Liam and Amanda, Liam is a chef so we've been eating some tasty meals on a budget. We had some Thai coconut soup dish that fed about 10 people for $25 and a pasta dish which stretched so far we had it for breakfast the next day.
Enough about my eating habits a little about Montreal, it's name is derived from the French Mont Royal the name of the 3 head-hill in the City. We walked up to the hill and got some amazing views of the City. We also visited St Joseph's Oratory which gives spectacular views of the city and is also home to some dudes heart in a box, Brother André, it's supposed to give healing to the sick. There are lots of dicarded walking sticks hung up where people have supposed to have been 'healed' I don't buy into any of that rubbish though, all these crippled people must have shopped at the same walking stick shop that's all I have to say!!
The next day I went to the La Rhonde theme park with Shanna, Jacqueline and Chris, it was a great day and really really hot so made use of the water rides to get soaked and cool off, not something you get to do at the theme parks in England very often! In the evening we went to the Montreal Fireworks festival and managed to catch the German display on Wednesday evening, it was very very efficient even if it doesn't make economic sense!
I know I keep talking about great views and not loading any pictures but I've yet to stay in a Hostel that has allowed me to connect my camera. Once I get to Toronto I'll find an internet cafe and spend an afternoon uploading photos.
